Description

AIR DASH VR is a VR movement-focused game that I am currently developing alongside my studies. It is conceived as a complete, hands-on exploration of game creation, where I aim to design, build, and polish every aspect of a video game, from core mechanics to narrative and sound design.

Set in a futuristic training facility, the player joins the Air Glide Initiative, an elite program designed to train the best aerial runners. Guided ( and constantly judged ) by a sarcastic AI, players must complete a series of fast-paced aerial courses, mastering advanced movement techniques to earn the ultimate rank. The experience focuses on speed, flow, precision, and control, delivering an intense sense of momentum and mastery unique to VR.

The core of the game is built around impulse-based movement rather than traditional locomotion, ensuring comfort in VR while emphasizing explosive, skill-based traversal. Players chain jumps, dashes, wall interactions, grapples, and environmental boosts in short, readable sequences designed for speedrunning and replayability. The gameplay follows an easy to learn, hard to master philosophy, with instant feedback and zero tolerance for motion sickness.

At this stage, I have fully designed the Game Design Document, defining the vision, pillars, mechanics, progression, and narrative tone of the game. I have also developed a dedicated test arena where all core movement mechanics and progression systems are implemented, functional, and iteratively tested. The next major step of the project is the creation and polish of the full level structure, including difficulty pacing, visual identity, and scoring systems.

I chose this type of project deliberately because it is one of the most complete formats to explore game development as a whole. Through this game, I aim to work on programming, game design, level design, visual design, narrative design, sound design, and integration, gaining a deep understanding of how all these disciplines interact to create a cohesive and satisfying player experience, especially in VR.
